Dr Jean-Patrice Assi

Jean-Patrice Assi, who has a PhD in Geophysics, is also an enthusiastic wine connoisseur. After a 9-year long international career in the oil industry, he created his own mining exploration company in 2016. He is one of the founding members of a wine connoisseurs’ club in Côte d'Ivoire called "La Classé". Since February 2018, he is a Vigneron d’Honneur of Saint-Emilion, and has been a Saint-Émilion wine trainer and chancellor in Abidjan since 2022. Jean-Patrice is married and has four children.

Dr Alexandre Kouakou

Dr Alexandre Kouakou is a doctor; he is married and has five children. For more than eleven years he worked as a company doctor for a mining company in the west African region (Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Sierra Leone). Today he has moved into the field of business and is CEO of Nvaulay Construction, a real estate business. His love of wine has led him to visit a number of wine estates in countries such as Portugal, Morocco, South Africa and France. He has been inducted as a Vigneron d’Honneur and since February 2018 has been a Saint-Émilion wine trainer in Abidjan.

Abidjan hosts the first Chancellery of the Saint-Émilion Jurade in Africa under the leadership of Jean-Patrice Assi.
This new page in the history of the Jurade heralds an opportunity to foster better knowledge of Saint-Émilion wines in Côte d’Ivoire and also to enhance their reputation there.
